The Energy Stress Triangle

Energy policy can be evaluated  by the stress created on three elements that are impacted by any legislation, the rate-payer, the environment and the regional energy grids. It is not uncommon that relieving stress on any one piece can have negative affects on the other two. Nuclear Power, Cape Wind, energy efficiency and RPS all can be evaluated from the perspective of increasing or relieving stress on the rate-payer, grid or the environment. One of the few energy policies that relieve stress on all three is the investment in energy efficiency.
